Privacy Policy
Your privacy is our top priority. GPSnap is designed with a privacy-first approach.
Effective Date: March 1, 2026
Our Privacy Promise
Your images and GPS data never leave your device.
All image capture and comparison processing happens entirely within your browser.
1. Introduction
Welcome to GPSnap ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at www.gpsnap.com (the "Site") and use our GPS-enabled image capture and comparison tool (the "Service").
GPSnap is a browser-based tool that allows you to capture images with GPS location overlays and perform before-and-after image comparisons. Our core functionality is designed to operate entirely within your browser, meaning your images and location data are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
By accessing or using our Site and Service, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Site or use the Service. We encourage you to read this policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data and how we treat it.
2. Information We Collect
We are committed to minimizing the data we collect. The information we handle falls into the following categories:
a) Image and Location Data (Processed Locally)
GPSnap's core image capture and comparison features process all data entirely within your browser. Images you capture, GPS coordinates obtained from your device, and any overlays applied to images are never transmitted to our servers. All image manipulation occurs client-side using the HTML5 Canvas API, and your captured images remain solely on your device unless you choose to download or share them yourself.
b) Analytics Data (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with tracking ID G-LHEDRR1KDE to collect anonymized usage data about how visitors interact with our Site. This includes information such as pages visited, session duration, approximate geographic region, browser type, device type, and referral sources. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users and sessions. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
c) Contact Form Data
When you submit our contact form, we collect the information you voluntarily provide, including your name, email address, subject, and message content. This data is securely transmitted to and stored in our Supabase database for the sole purpose of responding to your inquiry.
d) reCAPTCHA Verification Data
Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to protect against spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis. This processing is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
3. How We Use Information
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
- Site Improvement: Anonymized analytics data helps us understand how visitors use our Site, which features are most popular, and where we can improve the user experience.
- Support Responses: Contact form submissions are used exclusively to respond to your questions, feedback, or support requests.
- Security and Spam Prevention: Google reCAPTCHA data is used to verify that form submissions originate from real users and to protect against automated abuse.
- Advertising: Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to display relevant advertisements on our Site, helping us keep the Service free for all users.
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. Cookie Policy
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. We and our third-party partners use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our Site. Below is a detailed breakdown of the cookies used:
a) Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the basic functionality of the Site, including session management, theme preferences (light/dark mode stored in localStorage), and ensuring the Site operates correctly. These cookies do not collect personally identifiable information.
b) Google Analytics Cookies (GA4)
Google Analytics 4 (tracking ID: G-LHEDRR1KDE) sets cookies such as _ga, _ga_*, and related cookies to distinguish unique users, track sessions, and collect anonymized usage statistics. These cookies typically expire after 2 years for user-level identification and 24 hours for session-level tracking.
c) Google AdSense Cookies
Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-9467280667290889) uses cookies to serve advertisements relevant to you based on your browsing activity. These include:
- DoubleClick Cookie (DSID, IDE): Used by Google to register and report the website user's actions after viewing or clicking one of the advertiser's ads. This helps measure the effectiveness of an ad and present targeted ads to the user.
- Third-party advertising cookies: Set by Google and its advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other sites. These cookies uniquely identify your browser and internet device.
- NID and related cookies: Used to show Google ads in Google products and across the web, including remembering your most recent searches and interactions with ads.
d) Google reCAPTCHA Cookies
Google reCAPTCHA v3 may set cookies such as _GRECAPTCHA to provide its risk analysis functionality. These cookies are used to differentiate between human users and automated bots.
e) Managing and Opting Out of Cookies
You can manage or opt out of cookies through the following methods:
- Browser Settings: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being set. However, disabling cookies may affect Site functionality.
- Google Ad Settings: You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
- Network Advertising Initiative: Visit aboutads.info/choices to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.
- Google Analytics Opt-Out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.
5. Google AdSense Disclosure
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our Site. Google AdSense is a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your browsing patterns and interests.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
For more information about how Google uses data when you use our Site, please visit How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
6. Third-Party Services
Our Site integrates with the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy governing the data it collects:
- Google Analytics (GA4): Collects anonymized usage statistics to help us understand traffic patterns and improve the Site. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense: Displays relevant advertisements on the Site to help keep our Service free. Uses cookies for ad personalization. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google reCAPTCHA v3: Protects our contact form from spam and abuse by analyzing user behavior. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Provides reverse geocoding to convert GPS coordinates into human-readable addresses. Requests are anonymous and not linked to any user account. Governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: Provides secure database storage for contact form submissions only. No image data or location data is stored in Supabase. Governed by Supabase's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Retention
Because GPSnap processes images and GPS data entirely within your browser, we do not retain any image or location data on our servers.
Contact form submissions (name, email, subject, and message) are retained in our Supabase database for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and for our legitimate record-keeping purposes, typically no longer than 24 months. After this period, contact data may be permanently deleted.
Analytics data collected through Google Analytics is retained in accordance with Google's data retention policies. We have configured our GA4 property to retain user-level data for 14 months before it is automatically deleted.
If you would like your contact form data deleted sooner, please reach out to us via our Contact page, and we will process your request promptly.
8. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU Users)
