About GPSnap
We're on a mission to revolutionize field documentation with GPS-enabled image capture tools that respect your privacy and enhance your productivity.
Our Story
GPSnap was born from a simple observation: professionals in the field needed a better way to document their work with location context. Whether you're a construction contractor tracking project progress, an insurance adjuster documenting claims, a property manager recording maintenance issues, or a field service technician proving work completion, accurate location data paired with visual documentation is absolutely crucial for credibility and legal protection.
The problem we saw was clear: traditional photo apps don't provide tamper-evident location proof. GPS data stored in EXIF metadata can be easily stripped or altered. Specialized GPS camera apps often require expensive subscriptions, store your sensitive images on third-party servers, or work only on specific devices. Professionals needed something better - a solution that was free, worked everywhere, protected privacy completely, and provided undeniable location verification.
We built GPSnap to be the tool we wished existed - one that's powerful yet simple, respects user privacy completely, and works reliably in any condition. Our web-based approach means no app downloads, no data storage on servers, no subscription fees, and absolutely no privacy concerns. Everything happens directly in your browser. Your photos never leave your device unless you choose to download them.
What makes GPSnap unique is that location data isn't just stored in removable metadata - it's permanently burned into the visible image itself. This means the GPS coordinates, timestamp, altitude, and address are part of the photograph, creating tamper-evident documentation that can be used as legal evidence, insurance proof, or contractor verification. If someone tries to alter the location data, they would have to visibly photoshop the image, which is immediately detectable.
Today, GPSnap helps thousands of professionals across industries document their fieldwork more efficiently, accurately, and securely, with the peace of mind that their data remains entirely under their control. From preventing insurance fraud to resolving construction disputes, from documenting environmental conditions to verifying field service completion, our tools provide the location-verified evidence that professionals need to protect themselves and their businesses.
Who We Serve
GPSnap serves a diverse community of professionals who need location-verified visual documentation in their daily work. Our tools are trusted by construction contractors documenting job site progress and change orders, insurance adjusters investigating claims and preventing fraud, property managers recording maintenance issues and tenant conditions, field service technicians proving work completion, home inspectors documenting defects and compliance issues, real estate professionals verifying property conditions, environmental researchers tracking ecological changes, code enforcement officers documenting violations, surveyors capturing site conditions, and facility managers maintaining comprehensive property records.
What these professionals have in common is the need for credible, location-verified documentation that can withstand legal scrutiny, insurance review, or client disputes. They need proof not just of what happened, but exactly where and when it happened. GPSnap provides that proof in a format that's immediately understandable, legally defensible, and impossible to credibly dispute.
Whether you're working in residential construction, commercial property management, insurance claims, field services, environmental monitoring, or any profession requiring verified location documentation, GPSnap provides the tools you need to work with confidence and protect yourself from disputes, false claims, and misunderstandings.
Our Privacy-First Technology
Privacy isn't just a feature at GPSnap - it's the foundation of our entire architecture. We built GPSnap using client-side web technologies that process everything directly in your browser. When you capture a GPS-tagged image, your camera feed, GPS coordinates, and the resulting photograph never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to download and share them.
We don't have user accounts, we don't store your images on our servers, we don't track your locations, and we don't collect your personal information. This isn't just a privacy policy promise - it's technically impossible for us to access your data because it never reaches our servers in the first place. The GPS coordinates come from your device's location API, images are processed using your browser's Canvas API, and everything stays local to your device.
This privacy-first approach means you can document sensitive work sites, confidential properties, or private locations without any concern that your images or location data will be exposed, leaked, or accessed by third parties. You maintain complete control over your documentation at all times. This makes GPSnap ideal for professionals handling sensitive client information, working on confidential projects, or operating in privacy-regulated industries.
Our Approach
GPSnap is developed by a team of web engineers and field documentation specialists who understand the real-world challenges of location-verified photo documentation. Our development process is driven by direct feedback from construction contractors, insurance adjusters, property managers, and field service professionals who rely on our tools every day.
We chose to build GPSnap as a progressive web application using modern browser APIs — the Geolocation API for GPS coordinates, the MediaDevices API for camera access, and the Canvas API for image processing — because this architecture guarantees that no user data ever touches our servers. This technical decision reflects our core belief that professional tools should enhance privacy, not compromise it.
Every feature we add is validated against real-world field conditions: low-signal environments, extreme weather, remote job sites, and high-pressure documentation scenarios. We test across dozens of device and browser combinations to ensure reliability when it matters most. Our commitment is to build tools that professionals can depend on in the situations where documentation accuracy is critical.

Parimal Tank
Founder & Lead Developer
Parimal is a software engineer with hands-on experience in web application development, geolocation technologies, and client-side image processing. He built GPSnap after observing that field professionals across construction, insurance, and property management lacked a free, privacy-respecting tool for creating verifiable GPS photo documentation.
With a focus on privacy-first architecture and real-world usability, Parimal designed GPSnap to process everything in the browser so that users' photos and location data never touch external servers. He continues to develop new features based on direct feedback from contractors, adjusters, and property managers who use GPSnap in the field daily.
